Caring Children Clothing’s program offers parentents who are struggling the chance to build self-esteem by providing their children with clothing akin to what their peers wear, all at no expense to their families. Donations of children’s clothing are collected in bins at local schools, then sorted and displayed in a department-store style by dedicated volunteers. Families can shop at no cost for three complete outfits, along with new underwear, socks, and shoes, up to three times each year. Children between the ages of 5 and 16 may also shop at Walmart with a shoe voucher to select a pair of new school shoes.

The 4Cs school tutoring program delivers personalized reading assistance to at-risk students across six elementary schools in Martin County, spearheaded by retired teacher Lynn Lewis. In 2024, dedicated volunteer tutors provided support to 103 children in enhancing their reading skills.
In addition, we reach over 1,000 children each year in our store library, with a primary focus on preschoolers who are not yet prepared for kindergarten, have not participated in any pre-K programs, and have not received early reading intervention. We offer alphabet flashcards for pre-kindergarten children to practice at home. Our in-store literacy initiative engages volunteers to read with children who visit. They also mentor parents on effective reading strategies and provide grade-level materials that are crucial for home practice. Each child visiting our store receives two books to take home.
